HSBC

18 High St, Burton-on-Trent DE14 1HU, UK – 0345 740 4404

The staff at this bank have been brilliant. Opening a community account with this bank was so much easier than using any of the others. The staff ensured that our needs were catered for and provided a quick and efficient service. Would certainly recommend to other community groups.

Fantastic service and friendly staff. Will always go the extra mile to help. Keep up the good work.

Halifax

Coopers Square, 9 High St, Burton-on-Trent DE14 1HL, UK – 0345 600 3934

I've banked with Halifax since 1992 and never been let down by them! All of the staff at the Burton-on-Trent branch are very helpful, I highly recommend this branch.

It's a bank. You go there, you do your money business, you leave. This particular branch of Halifax has helpful staff who are friendly too, and that's all that really matters in a bank I guess.

Building Societies

Friendly and professional service. Still has the 1 to 1 personal touch rather than the person v the computer.

Local Chambers of Commerce for DE15 0TA. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!

Been today, over an hours treatment and the dentist - Mr Khan - was great, very reassuring throughout, takes his time with nervous patients.

Went in for an air flow treatment today. The hygienist Heather was awesome, the results well you can see below( pictures before and after). I couldn't recommend anywhere else more so! Great pratice with a great team!

Hill Street Dental Practice

Hillstreet Health and Well Being Centre, Hill St, Burton-on-Trent DE15 9LD, UK – 01283 568776

Staff are lovely! Wait times are below average for NHS treatment. All these complaints are likely from sick people in pain, I would just ignore them. I am a new patient and have been welcomed well. (Like the old saying goes, treat people as you wish to be treated. You reap what you sow)

I'm a new patient and I was treated very well. The wait for appointments on treatment is small compared to a lot of NHS services. Staff are lovely!

Peel Croft Surgery: Dr K Pai

Went for a smear yesterday and after many years of not having one, Nurse Helen was great and made me feel very comfortable, dont put it off ladies !!

Was with this surgery for a year and a half, really nice staff, busy as every doctor's surgery is but generally really great

Wetmore Road Surgery

12 Wetmore Rd, Burton-on-Trent DE14 1SL, UK – 01283 564848

Most of the time I find the surgery useful especially after being diagnosed with MS. For the second time I have been asked to ring in to the doctor so that I can make any changes to my situation to be told by reception "You can't do that!". Please off the same hymn sheet! The latest example is I want to return to work, I was told "unfortunately your current note hasn't run out so I'll have to wait and call up when it does run out". Luckily it's only a day, but I was told by the leading doctor I could ring in and get it amended at anytime. I'm trying to get back to work, what would happen if I'd still got another two weeks left on there? A lot of what I've done has been under my guidance. Am I not in a position to say if I'm fit to go back to work.

Called got an emergency appointment which saved time and given slip which saved time at the hospital

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Belvedere Rd, Burton-on-Trent DE13 0RB, UK – 01283 566333

My partner has been experiencing double vision. And he was referred to Burton by his opticians. Luckily not worst case scenario. I cannot fault the care he has received from them. In just a week he has been diagnosed and an operation has been scheduled. He's had 2 scans and various appointments within that time frame. I cannot thank the hospital nurses and doctors enough for their work. Also the communication between doctor's and departments has been spot on. All knowing what's going on from one to the next.

Attended appointment at Burton ENT Called near enough on time and the staff were absolutely brilliant.A big thank you to all.

The new NHS website below is very well worth a look. Hospitals are not only listed but evaluated. I certainly know which ones I would go to! At the very least you will know what questions to ask if you are sent to one which has not entered its data. Good luck!

household waste recycling centre

Burton-on-Trent DE11 0TP, UK – 01629 533190

Quite small - you often have to queue for a parking space at busy times. Staff are friendly and helpful, though. It's a south Derbyshire facility, and accepts up to 50kg of hardcore per vehicle per week -- unlike the nearby Ashby facility which is run by Leicestershire county council and charges for all hardcore.

Willshee's Skip Hire

ExeTeq Computer Services

242 Horninglow Rd, Burton-on-Trent DE14 2PZ, UK – 01283 480600

Took my laptop in for a free system check up and I required a fresh windows installation. Provided with a fast and friendly service with great prices! Whilst being Microsoft approved on top of this makes it a reliable company. Very impressed I highly recommend.

The guys at ExeTeq did a wonderful job replacing my laptop screen! I would recommend these guys to everyone!

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Newton Solney

The Winery

Manor Dr, Burton-on-Trent DE14 3RW, UK – 01283 568170

Wimbledon Prosecco Afternoon Tea Staff were very welcoming and polite. One member of staff did state that they were unsure what level of service was required as they had not previously served afternoon tea. We were offered a glass of prosecco but not tea or coffee so had to request this. The food was presented promptly. Sandwiches were all produced on white bread that was a little dry as though they had been left uncovered for a while. As we prefer wholemeal it would have been nice to have been given a choice. Both types had soft 'wet' fillings. The inclusion of a savoury pastry item could be a future consideration as there was an excess of sweet options but only the sandwiches as savoury. Cakes and sweet pastries were very nice but scones were inedible. The first scones presented were biscuit like, overcooked and very dry. After raising this with the waiter we were served with replacements along with an apology. These were slightly thicker but of the same consistency therefore, once again inedible. When your manager (name?) asked if all was okay with our afternoon tea we did raise the sandwich and scone issues but praised other foods and the politeness of staff. In response, she was very apologetic and we were kindly offered an additional drink at no extra charge which we chose to enjoy in your lovely garden. You are to be congratulated on your perfect setting on what was a most beautiful summer's day. There were also some technical issues with the Wimbledon screening but this did not affect our enjoyment as we are not fans of tennis. It is appreciated that afternoon tea is a new venture for The Winery and therefore hope that our criticisms are accepted constructively, as intended. We we will most definitely continue to frequent your fine establishment, although perhaps not for your current afternoon tea menu!

Great place beside the river. If you are lucky you will get river views. Well priced lunch menu. Service is good. Food was great. Seating was a little too crowded though.

The Dial

174-175 Station St, Burton-on-Trent DE14 1BN, UK – 01283 544644

Called in had a bite from the luncheon menu Recommend the 6 ounce steak with chip and pepper sauce Steak so tender real value for £10 Staff very curtious and helpful

We tried the £10 lunchtime special the flat iron steak it was lovely and although we waited a while for the food it was worth it and the service was good.

Frankie & Benny's

Middle Yard Leisure Park, Guild St, Burton upon Trent, Burton-on-Trent DE14 1NQ, UK – 01283 546621

Food and service were exceptional as always. The lunch menu is very good value. The only thing to improve the lunch menu would be to add a vegan main to it. There's a vegan starter and a vegan dessert but no main, meaning vegans miss out on the deal.

Good reasonably priced food, staff helpful, did feel a little rushed though, apart from that great

We have an incredibly happy and intelligent little Boy who has attended Chuckle Bunnies from 11 months old. The staff are very friendly and take real time and effort to settle them into the nursery. He now has a brilliant bond with all the staff. We are really happy with his development and our little boy is achieving really well. We would definitely recommend this nursery if you want a homely and family feel for your little one.

The staff are lovely. They always welcome parents and children with a smile. My son has really improved and has started being more independent has improved loads. I like the fact they work with us parents so that children have consitantcy which is very important. I'm very grateful and satisfied with everything they have done for my child and continuing to do so

Primary and Secondary Schools

Christ Church Primary School and Nursery

Dale St, Burton upon Trent DE14 3TE, UK – 01283 247400

I'm was one the first Year 6's to leave Christ Church and take from me that this is very good school. The teachers support you in learning and when you feel upset, the teachers there always help you. Yes, some of the dinner ladies are a bit mean but other than that they keep you safe all the time. Most the the pupils PASSED there SAT's and the ones who didn't, only missed it by a mark. Every new school needs improvement but this school is nearly perfect. This is a small school but the heart that other pupils and the teachers have for each other is ALWAYS big. I am in my first few months of high school but Christ Church will ALWAYS have a place in my heart.
